When you feel stuck in an emotion, disconnected from a part of your body, or reliving a trauma, relaxation massage can help soothe emotions by activating the parasympathetic nervous system and offering caring touch. Most massage also helps connect you with your body. Sometimes the goal is simply calming, sometimes it's emotional release. I don't need to know your whole story to support you from a somatic perspective.
Craniosacral therapy, Emotional Freedom Technique, acupressure, massage and structural integration can all be helpful. I blend these together with soothing music and signing bowls (SE office only) to help you on your journey. I sometimes, but not always, receive intuitive messages from areas for your body.
Your role is simply to allow whatever movement, feelings, thoughts or relaxation to occur. You may share with me visions, insights, whatever you like, as I simply listen or you can have a very internal, quiet experience. If you have significant trauma that you are working on or that comes up in the course of a session, it is recommended that you seek additional support from a counselor. It's important to consider whether you need calming to stabilize or emotional release to create change at this moment in your life.
This work is helpful for the physical or somatic aspect of your emotions. To discuss life's challenges, trauma, mental health issues, etc, please seek help from a licensed counselor. Bodywork is not a substitute for counseling but a complement to it.
